Pay per click or shortly known as PPC is a type of internet advertising that is used for advertising networks, search engines, and content websites like blogs. With the use of search engines, the advertisers usually offer keyword phrases that are related to the so-called target market. This works when a searcher typed a particular keyword that matches the advertiser’s list of keywords, or any website that contains relevant words, then the advertisement will show.
There are three major pay per click providers. They are as follows:
1. Google AdWords – this is Google’s advertising product which revenue ranged up to sixteen billion dollars last 2007. This offers local up to the international distribution. Their typical text content in advertisements is short, has a one-liner title and two liner content.
2. Yahoo Search Marketing – also a keyword-based internet advertising that is provided by Yahoo. Formerly known as Overture Services, Inc. the name was changed after bring acquired by their biggest customer – Yahoo for a billion dollars last 2003.
3. Microsoft AdCenter – formerly known as the MSN AdCenter, which is a division of Microsoft Network that is responsible for their services in advertising. Being the last of the three, Microsoft purchased the digital marketing solutions named aQuantive for six billion dollars last May 2007.
